About Us

about usFounded in the 1920s, Musgrove Willows is based on the Somerset Levels. Four generations later, the highest quality willow continues to be grown here.

Expert willow growers

Our family and team of dedicated willow workers grow, sort and prepare over 60 different varieties of willow. All the willow is processed using traditional methods and with the health of the environment firmly in mind.

Every aspect of willow coffin making takes place on our farm. The willow is grown here and each coffin is carefully handcrafted by our skilled and friendly team. Controlling every step of the process allows us to make the highest quality willow coffins in just 48 hours. (With prior arrangement, family members can help to weave their chosen coffin.)

Award-winning people, products and service

Willow is hugely important to the Musgrove family. In recognition of his substantial contribution to the willow industry, Michael Musgroven has been awarded membership as a Yeoman of The Worshipful Company of Basketmakers. There are only 22 Yeoman members worldwide.

Ellen - Michael's wife - is Managing Director and she has spent over 25 years in the willow industry. Ellen distinctly remembers waving at workers on this farm when she visited her nearby Aunt during school holidays! Their son, Jack, has followed in their footsteps. When Jack began in the industry he was recognised as the youngest willow grower in Somerset.

Our services to the bereaved and the quality of our products have been recognised with numerous awards. Among these are the Good Funeral Guide's supplier of the Year and accreditation from the Funeral Furnishing Manfacturers' Association. (All our coffins have passed rigorous testing and meet with funeral and cremation requirements.)

Everyone who works here is passionate about what they make and the service they provide.

Willow. Beautiful, sustainable and at the heart of everything we do.
